Grew up in Brockley, SE London, exposed to many musical and cultural influences, herfather and uncle produced House Music as 100 Hz, and her step-dad played in a Ska band. On her Mother’s side she is related to Urania Boswell known as Queen of the Kent Gypsies, and from her Father’s side she received Jamacian influences. As a child she learnt to play guitar and drums, and at 13 was able to secure a place at the well-known Brit School in Croydon. A track she uploaded to SoundCloud had over 100k hits. It was heard by the musician Tricky and as a result he invited her to his recording studio in Berlin where she co-wrote and performed two tracks Running Wild (which was released as the second single from the album) and Dark Days which both appeared on his album Ununiform. With a local Management Company she co-wrote and performed 4 singles and two 4 track EP’s called Issue 25 (link) and London Burning (link) and associated videos.Tracks were released through Kobalt, part of AWAL. These tracks are all available on the usual streaming services, Spotify, Apple etc, and she can be found on Instagram thisisminarose.
