Introducing: Kid Cupid – Heartlands EP
From London-based collective Kid Cupid comes their new EP “Heartlands”, a three-track cool synth-seduction that taps into a Stevie Nicks-esque vibe from vocalist Laura. The lead track “Out of the Sun” offers soothing guitar melodies and celestial vocals, which create a soulful and irresistible reflection of ones own dive into self sabotage. Kid Cupid portray these feelings of dread and self-worth extremely well in their lyrics, and also create a matching atmosphere musically.
Indie-electronica serves strongly in this narrative, with introspective themes around ““where were you when I needed you then”, that mould an intense yet familiar conversation starter. Sounding akin to the likes of The Japanese House or London Grammar, Heartlands is filled with seductive synths and whirring hooks from the offset.
Kid Cupid, who formed in 2017 as a four-piece, and have reformed with Laura (vocals) and James Hogan (production, percussion) at it’s core. They have previously received praise from the likes of The Line of Best Fit, PRS’ M Magazine, Lock Magazine and Substream Magazine.
“Heartlands” was released on 1st April 2022, and is out now on all major streaming platforms.
