TOTW: ‘Freak’ – Little Thief
Little Thief are bloody cool. Too cool in fact. With a diverse sound emerging from their previously released tracks, one thing all their songs have in common is that they are all incredible. Their new single is no exception.
The Bristol rock duo release their new single ‘Freak’ with an accompanying video which sees the duo being covered head to toe in paint (but still looking as gorgeous as ever). With the explosive melodies, powerful drums (Rhii Williams) and effortless vocals (Charlie Fitzgerald), this track is another example of why Little Thief are one of the best emerging bands in the U.K. right now.
‘Freak’ acts as the leading track from upcoming debut album Under the Patio due to be released next month, of which the band crowdfunded £5,000 to make the record. Going on this track alone, the cash is clearly being put to great use. Their cleverly crafted combination of alt rock with soulful tendencies is just too perfect and has seen them receive support from BBC Radio 6 and BBC Intro multiple times.
Recorded with heavyweight producer Stew Jackson (Massive Attack) at Rockfield & Invada Studios, Fitzgerald states,
“We wanted to capture the feeling of excitement and fear that comes with those explosively beautiful people. We all know that person or group of people that have the ability to bring out our “fuck it” side. I’ve had a load of people like this in my life, Rhii being one of them. They are magnanimous and that knock on the door on a Friday night always feels like the beginning of a superhero film”
