TOTD: ‘DREAMCAST’ – JOVIAN

Hailing from Brooklyn and making R&B, Jovian has a knack for writing catchy, emotional tracks. His previous releases caught the eye of the likes of BBC Introducing, while also going viral on TikTok. Jovian’s tracks are summer-y hip hop at its finest and his new single aims to take him to new heights.

‘Dreamcast’s impressive production allows Jovian to shine: his vocal is the star of the show, backed by plucky guitars and a tight rhythm section. There are hints of Rex Orange County to the instrumental, while the vocal delivery is worthy of a Weeknd track. Jovian is clearly an experienced songwriter and his latest release is the singer at his very best. Talking about his musical career, the rapper says “I use music & specifically Hip-Hop to express myself & literally survive. Hip-Hop has saved my life &
supported me in expressing my feelings when I felt speaking to others failed me in this process.” 

It’s an admirable motive for writing, and one that shines through in Jovian’s music. There’s a heartfelt dedication that isn’t often found in pop music and for that reason, Jovian is an artist to keep an eye on.
