With only three previous singles to their name, Glasgow synth-poppers der Mist have released their debut album. The band have been making waves across the UK with coverage from BBC Introducing while also making noise across the pond, and rightly so. Their debut album ‘Der Mist’ is an impressive release filled with danceable rhythms, bluesy guitar solos and their signature fuzzed-up synths.

der Mist take influence from a wide selection of artists: bands like LCD Soundsystem and Daft Punk have clearly made an impact on the Glaswegian two-piece, but there are still nods to the blues and and to the softer side of indie. The combination of their deadpan vocal delivery and powerful synth playing is a winning one, demonstrated on tracks like ‘Tearing Me Apart’, ‘This Life’ and ‘Step Into The Light’. While these songs are highlights, the whole album showcases der Mist’s impressive songwriting talent.

For a debut album, ‘Der Mist’ is a confident release. There’s a gap in the market for good synth-based music, der Mist seem determined to fill that space. ‘Der Mist’ is out now on all platforms.
