Kid Kapichi- What Would Your Mother Say
Hailing from Hastings and hotly tipped by the NME in their top 100 for 2021, Kid Kapichi have dropped their latest corker ‘What Would Your Mother Say’. No doubt harnessing a hotbed of lockdown frustrations, this fervent four-piece are certainly making waves in the UK’s alternative scene.
Following in the footsteps of some of the industry’s most electrifying performers such as Slaves and The Streets, Kid Kapichi’s anthemic riffs and punk style delivery in their latest track makes for a particularly potent demonstration of what we can expect from their debut out early this February.
‘What Would Your Mother Say’ is punchy, raw and outspoken with it’s deliberately lousy rhythm and commanding lyricism. Yet it remains accessible and radio-friendly with its familiar structure and short span making it a poignant choice for a whirlwind live set. Having planned a tour for their debut album ‘This Time Next Year’ from which they’ve already sold out two dates, Kid Kapichi are undoubtedly raring to get back on the road and unleash their havoc upon their cult following.
As co-vocalist and guitarist Jack Wilson explains, “This time next year’ you’ll be doing this and playing here. Sometimes you find it hard to see what you have achieved and how far you’ve come because you’re always looking ahead to that next thing. It can be a toxic way to view life, and one that is quite often the norm. On the other hand, it’s also relevant to what’s going on right now. Everyone’s lives are on pause. We’re all waiting and hoping for this time next year”.
