‘Fizzy Blood sound like the future of British rock music’Metro

“A beauty…one of those choruses you’ll still be singing tomorrow. Brilliant.” – Dave Rowntree (Blur), Radio X

Leeds’ Fizzy Blood reveal their colossal new single Pink Magic today. Commanding and anthemic, the track showcases a new strength to Fizzy Blood ’s sound.

“’Pink magic’ is probably the easiest song we’ve ever written. It kind of just fell into our laps when together we were messing around with a korg, we got a bit of a trance-like groove going and just decided to see how far we could take that before it became boring We never found the answer, instead we got Pink Magic.

The lead guitar part, which at the time I didn’t know was gonna become Pink Magic, came about when I was messing around with a musical phone in the call centre I worked in at the time. Each key was assigned a different pitch and pressing them in the order of a phone number pulled from the Hull phone book gives you the melody you hear in the intro ”
– Paul Howells, guitars

Pink Magic is supported by the PRSF Momentum Fund. The track follows previous single CFO , which landed Fizzy Blood their first daytime BBC Radio 1 play courtesy of Clara Amfo. Both tracks will feature on forthcoming EP Pink Magic , which the band announce will come later this year on Killing Moon.

“ The ‘Pink Magic’ EP is our third and final EP. It’s taken us a few years to develop as a band, as musicians and as people and this is the happiest we’ve ever been with the music. We were but a 4 piece rock band when we wrote and recorded ‘Feast’ our first EP, and during the writing process of ‘Summer Of Luv’ we were still getting to grips with the dynamics of being a 5 piece. After touring and being around each other non stop for the past 4 years, we’re now very comfortable in our own skin. Our 3rd EP is what we believe to be the most accurate representation of who we are as a band and where we want to take our music moving forward into the future. We’re happy to present the 3 EPs as a trilogy but I wouldn’t kid anyone and say this was the plan from the start. These 3 offerings will have to tide you over till we’re finished with what comes next ”
– Paul Howells

September 2017 saw the release of Fizzy Blood ’s Summer Of Luv EP ( KKKK – Kerrang! ) on Killing Moon. Singles Pawn, Summer Of Luv and ADHD perked up the ears of BBC Radio 1 ’s Annie Mac, Phil Taggart, Huw Stephens and Daniel P. Carter , alongside 6Music , Radio X , Kerrang! Radio , Planet Rock Radio and VEVO DSCVR.

Live is home for Fizzy Blood. Drummer Jake Greenway and bassist Ciaran Scanlon are a powerhouse, even down to their facial expressions, effortlessly switching from a full throttled, ear shattering sonic backbone to an infectious, groove-ridden pulse. Vocalist Benji Inkley oozes charm with his Josh Homme -inspired croons, and his counterparts Tim Malkin (keys & guitars) and Paul Howells (guitars) showcase incredible attention to detail in their blistering musicianship. This is just a glimpse into the many reasons why Fizzy Blood have catapulted to the forefront of British DIY rock. Recent live highlights include tours alongside While She Sleeps , Dinosaur Pile-Up, Arcane Roots, Spring King, alongside last year’s The Great Escape, Download, 2000 Trees and Reading & Leeds festivals.

Four months in to 2018 and the band are showing no sign of slowing down, touring with Spring King before embarking on their first UK headline run – including a sold out hometown show in Leeds. Now gearing up for slots at Live At Leeds, Hit The North, Y Not and Boardmaster festivals, alongside a headline show at Milton Keynes Craufurd Arms, Fizzy Blood are an unstoppable force on the UK live circuit. Additional live dates and further news on their forthcoming Pink Magic EP will be announced very soon.
