LUME ‘Skin’

Okay so we all know it’s snowing. I’m currently holed up at home, trying to get work done from underneath a blanket – as long as only my hands are exposed I shouldn’t succumb to the cold. The ‘feels-like’ temperature is -11 in Beaconsfield which is absolutely mad, and there are gale force winds blowing huge swathes of snow from the rooftops and into the street. I usually love wintery weather but I don’t even want to think about the snow anymore – it’s been like this for days and I’m so bored of it now. So, I’m beating the chill with the new track from young Brighton based artist-producer LUME. ‘Skin’ is a slick and sensual slice of alt-pop, with pulsating beats, soothing synth chords, and catchy choruses. Hinting at what is yet to come from her debut EP, perhaps most impressive are LUME’s understated yet meandering vocals melody, blending patchwork production and sophisticated RnB tonality in a way that’s reminiscent of the likes of James Blake – definitely one to watch for 2018. Enjoy.
