Pillow Queens ‘Favourite’

Around this time of year we are inundated with adverts for cheap beach holidays. On TV, on the tube; the holiday and airline companies must make an absolute killing off Seasonal Affective Disorder and general January blues. I can’t describe how much I want to be on a beach right now, warm pillowy sand beneath my feet and a painfully blue sea lapping at the shore with reassuring rhythmic recapitulation. There are few things more enjoyable than spending a day at the beach (it has to be AT LEAST 26-7 degrees though), leafing through a tacky crime novel in between swims and shoreside walks. I’m actually just making myself feel worse by writing about it. Maybe I should print off a few of those prick-tease adverts to put on my desk, so I can occasionally daydream myself into that tableau. Get an under desk heater and a sneaky sangria in my coffee mug and I’m there. Right now I’m listening to Pillow Queens (kudos on the name, really), a Dublin based four-piece who have just released new single ‘Favourite’. With slick guitar riffs, dazzling pop punk harmonies and infectious choruses, ‘Favourite‘ is a wonderful introduction to their upcoming EP State Of The State, out this March. Enjoy.
