Killing Moon Live Vid Holding Image demolition day

It’s nearly Christmas, signalling the last episode of Demolition Day until the new year. Thirty tracks in and still none the wiser; head to the newly updated Spotify playlist to hear our picks from the last six weeks.

Today’s special guest was Killing Moon royalty ZoZo. Catch the new music video for her latest single I Won’t Leave Your Bed Tonight here and, if you want to see her apply her trademark makeup to Nick… well, you’ll have to just watch the video back.

The Spirit of the Beehive – cops come looking
The Spirit of the Beehive hail from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, though we don’t know much more than that. Deep cut cops come looking from latest album pleasure suck packs a plethora of ideas into a mere three-and-a-half minutes; at time folk, at times psych, and always evolving. Lazy saturated vocals and woozy guitar drift across moods and soundscapes.

Ragmans Daughter – Lazy
Honey Lung label mates Ragmans Daughter came out with their first single last week. Cunningly crafted guitar hooks punctuate with no shortage of warm fuzz.

Helga Arvesten – Don’t Speak
Stockholm’s Helga Arvesten is midway through releasing an arc of three singles, with Don’t Speak dropping this week. Drawing comparisons with Björk and Kate Bush, production flourishes flirt with a strong, distinctive vocal.

Niterooms – Headway
South Walian group Niterooms blend dream pop, minimal RnB and hip hop on their genre-crossing debut eponymous EP, out now.

Eyes Behind the Veil – Garden Jaws
Gorgeous ambient dreampop from Portland musician Michael Tenzer, from his new EP Grow released this week. It’s a stonking listen and picking one track was difficult. We decided upon this beautiful cut.
“Grow is available for free download/pay what you want on Bandcamp. All sales for the EP will go to the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Free Press, two organizations that are dedicated to defending net neutrality in the U.S..”

That’s all, folks. We’ll be back in the new year with more instalments of Demolition Day. Until then, look after yourselves and those around you. x
