Chemtrails ‘Deranged’
Olivia here. I’m a big fan of podcasts, and lately I’ve been listening to ‘S’Laughter’, a true crime podcast presented by teachers Lucy and Emma, whose fascination with all things gruesome is truly infectious. Every week they take an in-depth look at two (usually) serial killers, detailing their early lives, their early crimes, and their brutal murders in grisly detail. This doesn’t sound like much fun, but luckily the presenters are hilarious, which makes for an uncomfortable (and enjoyable) juxtaposition between macabre and mirth. I listen to it constantly, when I’m washing up, when I’m working, when I’m trying to fall asleep – I fully recommend everyone listens to it. Does that make me deranged? I don’t think so. Like they say on the podcast, listening to ‘S’laughter’ doesn’t make you a psycho, killing someone does. So, that brings me onto today’s Track Of The Day, ‘Deranged‘ from psychedelic garage pop band Chemtrails. This latest release from the London band is an exuberant whirlwind of a track, with rugged, distorted guitars, and driving percussion sweeping along the cheery lo-fi vocals. Old-school guitar solos lend a charming nostalgic feel to the track, which combined with the summery garage soundscape, make for a truly uplifting number. Stick this in your headphones and go enjoy all the good weather predicted for this weekend. Enjoy.
