“The Party”

Bonjour. Nous venons de rentrer de nos vacances peu à Paris, alors nous essayons d’écrire un peu de ce en français (avec un peu d’aide de Google Translate, évidemment). Il était très gentil, mais il était aussi très cher. Les restaurants étaient particulièrement coûteux, et étaient donc les bières que nous ont été surpris de découvrir coût proche de 10 £ pour moins d’un demi-litre. Lorsque nous avons découvert ce sur une seule facture détaillée, notre réaction a été celle de la surprise de telle sorte que le garçon se mit à rire et on s’est dit “ouais – bienvenue à Paris, fils de pute”. Cela nous a fait rire, mais nous a fait un peu en colère aussi. Nous avons également déçu de constater que l’office de tourisme de Paris ne nous laisserait pas avoir un aller sur leurs versions de Boris-vélos. Mais en général, nous avons eu un très bon moment et nous avons mangé une belle (mais cher) des aliments.

Alright, enough with this language mumbo-jumbo. No later than 2 hours of touching back down in merry old London, where the beer is also expensive but STILL under a tenner for a pint (we are of course mindful that this could change at any time under the recent budgetary revisions), we have fried chicken on our plate (fuckyeah), a shitload of emails to catch up on (fuckno) and some kick-ass music to tuck right back into. We just thunk it would be rather appropriate, seeing as we’ve just come from Paris, to whack on an up-and-coming Parisian outfit by the name of SingTank on our beloved Killing Moon blog. A brother-sister duo tipped for all things on the up by such greats as Dazed & Confused, these dudes present an upbeat, quirky sound synonymous to their hometurf – for a couple of comparisons, we’d say this lot could be comfortably sandwiched between Iceland’s own boy-girl duo Feldberg and French megabunch The Bewitched Hands – looks-wise, we’re talking magazine-cover arty model types, not least of all evidenced by the door-boastful video for recent track The Party. Best to get into this lot now, ahead of confirmed appearances at this year’s Great Escape in Brighton following a show at Camden Crawl’s launch thingy at Koko on 4th May.
