Mina Rose grew up in Brockley, SE London, exposed to many musical and cultural influences, her father and uncle produced House Music as 100 Hz, and her step-dad played in a Ska band. On her mother’s side she is related to Urania Boswell known as Queen of the Kent Gypsies, and from her father’s side she received Jamaican influences. As a child she learnt to play guitar and drums, and at 13 was able to secure a place at the world-renowned Brit School.
A track she uploaded to SoundCloud had over 100k hits. It was heard by the musician Tricky and as a result he invited her to his recording studio in Berlin where she co-wrote and performed two tracks Running Wild (which was released as the second single from the album) and Dark Days which both appeared on his album Ununiform. She also co-wrote and performed 4 singles and two 4 track EP’s called Issue 25 and London Burning and associated videos.
During 2018 she supported Anna of the North at XOYO, was on two separate stages at the Great Escape in Brighton, and All Points East in Victoria Park. She did product launches for House of Vans, ASOS and Dr Martens, and appeared in a video for fashion house Balmain. Her tracks have been played on BBC Radio by Jamz Supernova and Toddla T (with whom she is currently writing and producing new tracks), and numerous radio stations including Rinse FM and Represent Radio. She then went on to support her school buddy Jorja Smith on her entire UK tour in 2018.
Now with Killing Moon Management, Mina is gearing up for a string of releases from Summer 2019 onwards.
Basically, Mina is sick af and you should all get on board now before everyone else does.
