NANO KINO – RUNAWAY

Don’t you find that some of the best songs in this world tend to be really short? Some are so short they’re under three minutes long. You think it would be hard to make an impact in such a short amount of time, but that’s why I tend to think that these tracks are so great; they seem to possess a certain je ne sais quoi that standard-length tracks don’t have. A shorter time means you have to catch the listeners attention from the first second. ‘Runaway’ by Newcastle based band Nano Kino is one of those songs.

The track is jangly indie dream pop, with vocals that tell of Cocteau Twins and Veruca Salt. They’re dreamy and ethereal, and the instrumentation fits so well. ‘Runaway’ is uplifting and sweet, it’s nostalgic but it feels fresh. It makes a statement at just under two minutes long, and you want more, but playing the track on repeat seems fitting enough. Check out the track and the music video below that’s streaming exclusively with Killing Moon.
