We assumed once upon a time that there are few pleasures in our ever-growing subjective world than eating left over Dominos pizza, particularly for lunch in the office with few people present (honestly, where the fuck has everyone been today?) to judge the aforementioned eating habits. Then again, today and indeed this week has been filled with a great many personal and professional pleasures – the two typically intertwine for us, although we feel in our current state we have learned how to separate the two, which is entirely necessary at regular intervals – that we might be able to challenge that assertion right now. It is almost as if the life we have wanted for ourselves and the balance we’ve wished to strike for, oh, the last 20 years or something like that, has just happened without having realised it properly until just now. We’ll save you the personal and rather self-gratifying gushing and just surmise (week’s not quite done yet, and we’re gonna drink the shit outta some beers so fuck knows what’s about to happen) that it has been a pretty great week. Seems kind of fitting in this quasi-reflective state we’re in to chat about Cocoa Futures, who we haven’t actually heard that much from since whacking them on the ye olde Killing Moon clubnight residency of 2013 that used to take place at the Monarch in Camden. But that’s okay. They’ve probably been busy, and we’re pleased to report that they also have something to show for it in form of current Track Of The Day The Blue, which of course has been doing the rounds online this week via new music big-boys Line Of Best Fit and also the music biz daily digest called CMU. As we recall, that show was fucking rammed, as were several other shows prior to that in the north London area. So it seems rather fitting that The Blue is getting a release proper via Lost In The Manor on 16th September, whom we know to do stuff at The Finsbury (guess where that is). In fact, we are doing stuff with them at The Finsbury in October, so look out for us propping up stuff about that soon. So. The track. It’s a bit Bowie. It’s a bit Prince. It’s also (in bits) kinda Talking Heads and kinda Hot Chip. Have a great weekend y’all.
