Bit of a weird day. We have some inevitable family-related shite to attend to in the early morning-ish hours of tomorrow which we’re not especially looking forward to, but on the flip-flap it does mean we get to wear our suit which only gets to make an appearance maybe once a year. Drawing on from this means that whatever stockpiled serotonin we’ve had access to in the last couple of weeks has apparently run out, and we can feel the bastard that is lethargy trying to rear its chudsey mug into our own. Anyway, as a result we’re actively trying to distract ourselves, which isn’t really that hard given that South By Motherfucking South West is just around the corner. We’ve been RSVPstering the fuck out of anything and everything. We’re looking to catching up with some American bretheren that we don’t get to see nearly as often as we like. It’ll be good and that. Sigh. With this happy/sombre limbo we’re a bit trapped in today being ever-present and clearly not-as-shakeable-as-we’d-like, here’s new guy ESSE and his similarly-themed Track Of The Day Deep Heart. We do know this guy. We’ve seen him around these parts a few times. We are disappointed to learn that he has decided to become beardless. Beards represent a thoughtful man. A ponderous man. Mr ESSE should consider getting back in the beard game. Then again, we’ve entertained the possibility that we may not be right about everything all of the time, so we’ll just let this one slide and move one. Much debate has ensued in the KM office as to what this sounds like. We’re personally getting something along the lines of John Newman getting mashed in with some James Blake-style minimalist production. We’re also reminded of a guy back in the day (well, like four years ago) called Samuel & The Dragon. We do wonder often what happened to him and/or his dragon. One of our kin (who has asked to remain nameless for now, for fear of being openly ridiculed for such an assertion) has also chimed in saying that he really thinks John Legend could sing this. We don’t doubt for a second that Mr. Legend has the vocal capability of doing just that.
