Release: Sons & Lovers Announce New Single
“Lover” Via Killing Moon + Headline New Moons Tour In May 2014
Sometime around the mid-point in the summer of 2013, our flatmate Ian Butterworth decided to become a real person and join the scientific elite in some bullshit research position at M.I.T. in Boston. It broke our heart, even though he was going off to save the world. Little did we know that shortly after such an event riddled with trauma that another opulently-bearded man would enter our life, and co-incidentally occupy Ian’s now-former room within our Finsbury Park flat, who would ultimately change our lives for ever. He said his name was Tim. He cooked his own meals. He liked to play guitars. He also really liked Coldplay, and last time we checked (this morning, in fact) he still does. As a result, we have spent a lot of time watching him okay guitar and listening to him tell us how much he likes Coldplay, except we do this in our new pad in Highgate these days. He has also let us eat his food sometimes. Tim also played in a band called Sons & Lovers – we’d heard the name bounded about more than a few times; in part from the online music editorial world, in another part from our bro-dogs at Turn First Artists. So we hung out (and still do) with Tim a lot, and over the course of the next 6-8 months got to know his crime-fighting band chums Tom, Josh and Dan real well. We got suckered in by their Bastille-avec-guitars musical stylings spliced with the song-writing prowess of One Republic kinda vibes. So, really, it is at least fitting and at most fucking brilliant to proudly announce that Sons & Lovers will release new single Lover via Killing Moon on 24th March 2014. You can pre-order on limited edition white frosted 7″ vinyl and digital download right now.
But that’s not all. Oh no. Fuck no. We have been waiting an awfully long time to talk about this and now we finally can. We are absolutely overjoyed to announce that Sons & Lovers will headline the very first Killing Moon Tour, which we’re calling the New Moons Tour as a cheeky tie-in with our new compilation series with our bro-dog, BBC Radio 1’s Ally McCrae. Ally’s gonna be DJing on all dates. He likes that sort of thing. Other supports stemming from the compilation tracklisting will be announced shortly. We’ll be going along too, and will attempt to document the whole shebang alluding to just how much effort goes into these sorts of thing in an attempt to make it look easy for the rest of the world. The kick-ass poster is below. Tickets are available from 7th March. It’s all happening. We can’t believe it. But it is happening.
Phew. Anyway. Press release time. Imbibe.

Sons & Lovers – Lover
“Lover was one of the first songs we wrote together” explains vocalist Tom Lillywhite. “It focuses on the problems self-identity, self-awareness and where you think you belong. Those worries we’ve all had where we often find it a very hard thing for people to talk about”.
You can also hear the band’s B-Side ‘The Only One‘:
The Pop-rock 4-piece’s tour follows on from the band’s impressive touring record playing with the likes of Walk The Moon, Kyla La Grange, Of Monsters & Men and none other than global sensation, Ellie Goulding. The band have also enjoyed festival slots at Reading & Leeds Festival and T in the Park. A part of their set is track Ghost which impressively amassed 200K plays online in under 2 weeks.
