“Dust Hung Heavy”
Today is a busy day. But it is a good day. Spirits are high. Shit is getting done. Ben is starting to get annoyed at our light-hearted and seemingly sort-of-racist attempts to emulate his dulcet Scottish tones every five minutes or so, which funnily enough co-incides with whenever he says anything at all. We are genuinely surprised that it has taken us this long to wear him down, following a solid month of projecting every metal and/or beatdown-orientated band we can possibly think of in his general direction when he is trying to get important shit done. We figure that if you can orchestrate a release campaign whilst being subjected to such an elaborate sonic blast, you can do pretty much anything – a bit like in Dodgeball when Rip Torn surmised that if you can dodge a spanner, you can definitely dodge a ball. Anyway, he is holding up just fine. Ben is, in terms of physical sense (Ben has a luscious head of ginger hair), is very similar to our former housemate and close ally Ian Butterworth – who you may remember fucked off to Boston some time ago to become an MIT moviestar which perfectly alludes to our already-made assumption when we first met the guy that he will probably save the world quite soon – and as another stark coinky-dink Ian got in touch today to sling across this mesmerising number from Manchester man/woman duo Shield Patterns, who as yet another what-are-the-odds-style coincidence released current Track Of The Day Dust Hung Heavy on Gizeh Records on this very day. Cool. Given that Ian is the driving force behind this particular post and seemingly able to PR the fuck outta us through a lethal combination of emotional blackmail and generally sending us shit that we think is real good, we queried the man himself as to what he reckons this sounds like. He quoted us the following: Kate Bush, Múm, Purity Ring. He qualified the last reference by saying that “Purity Ring might not be valid”. That may be true but seeing as we’ve gotta go in like a second, we’re keeping it in there. Blam.
