Festival: Killing Moon Stage At The Great Escape

One Week To Go

Oh yeah. You KNEW this shit was gone’ git real. The fact is, we have a massive boner for Brighton and the music scene that revolves around it all. Also some of our very favourite people in this world are from Brighton and/or went to some kinda educational institution around there. Also, there is a beach where we’ve spent some of the most emo times with the most emo people we know. All of these factors – the music, the people, the emo – are brilliantly and so perfectly culminated together under one massive three-day piss up that is called The Great Escape. Last year, we buddied up with our super-cool chums Euphonios and The Orchard to do 1 x all-dayer and 1 x afternooner (admittedly, we failed to turn up to the afternoon showcase in good time to be of any real use to anybody on that occasion. The reason for this was because we were a bit fucked). The only way we made it through, basically, was by drinking booze the entire time. It’s not because we have a problem. It was because we were just feeling the good times a bit too much. It nearly killed us, we think. This year, not only do our bratty and far-better-looking siblings Just Because have their debut TGE outing at 10 Below on Ship Street which we’ll no doubt be repping because our man-friends Racing Glaciers will be playing their debut real-life show for all and sundry (you’d actually be an idiot to miss them as well) as well as bro-dog Jack Garrett getting all sexy and guitary in your faces; but we have taken the plunge again and gone for another all-dayer on Saturday 18th May at The Mesmerist. We will never learn.

Observe the above poster. It says that we have buddied up with 3 of the most kick-ass UK music blogs that you ever did see – The RecommenderCrack In The Road and My Band’s Better Than Your Band – to bring you Blog Up, sponsored by those everlasting-music-bloggy-know-it-alls Music Robot. Each of the bands appearing on this stage has been hand-picked by us and them-dudes, because as you know indie music is inherently quite elitist and we occasionally like to get our kicks by playing gods in our own little world. Although that being said, there are about 20 or so bands that we collectively would have loved to have gotten on there. Shit costs money though kids. Anyway, we digress. Here’s the running order, and by gum it kicks ass:

Holy shit, that’s a whole lotta buzz. To add to that, we’ve got a RIDICULOUS DJ set up going on in-between and all-around the aforementioned live music goings-on, including peeps from BBC Radio 1, XFM, Amazing Radio, and, well, us feckless blogger chumps are probs gonna have a go. Of course. If you ask us really nicely on the day and we’re all jubilant and that, we’ll probably let you have a go too. Whatever, right?

Finally, we’ve got a big-ass music bloggers meet up thingy happening during the party. Between the hours of 3-7pm we’ll be playing host to this now-annual thingy whereby if you run a blog, or wanna meet people who do, you tip up, grab a drink, do a little dance, make a little….music, and generally natter away while we skulk in the corner and chaperone like some kinda embarrassing dad at ya high school Valentine’s disco. We’re going to try to make some laminates for people as well. No particular reason why. Everyone just feels more important with a laminate, and we just wanna make ya feel good.

Oh yeah – all of this is completely free entry by the way. You do not need a wristband or pass or badge or shit to attend this. Just come; as you are, were, or however you want you to be.

See you there dudes.
