Release: Verses Announce Mini-Album Release Via Killing Moon
We’ve been inadvertently traipsing around the country with Verses around various locations for the past year without having actually realised it up until just now, which just so happens to be the day we announce that we’re going to be putting out a record for them. Cool. The first time we saw the most-triumphant Brighton four-piece in the live context was round about the same time we started bumming around with Eye Emma Jedi, where we caught Verses powering out at The Barfly which doubled as our first encountered singer Jason’s self-determined “I NEED to rock” frontman-ish strong look. We loved them immediately, as well as Jason’s face. In fact, each member of Verses‘ chudsey faces are pretty good. Since then, following a festival encounter or two, we’ve seen these guys receive praise and hi-five from stalwart rock publications Rocksound and Kerrang on account of their Jimmy Eat World-via-Deaf Havana musical stylings, coupled with just how ruddy incredible they are live; clap- and/or sing-alongs are not an uncommon occurance, and, lets be honest, not the easiest thing to achieve in anyone’s accolade book. We’re mighty proud indeed to be putting out the band’s first label-led release in the form of Come To Life on CD (which is sort of like vinyl, in a way) and digital formats – check out the pre-order bonus tracks and Golden Ticket twists below – on 6th May 2013, which just so happens to be coupled with a big-ass tour and more live dates on the way (Download Festival, anyone…?).

Poised to challenge for the British rock crown, Brighton four-piece Verses help kick off their busiest year to date with the release of their stunning mini-album, Come To Life.
The culmination of many years’ hard graft, this six–track set perfectly encapsulates the band’s brand of irrepressible, expansive melodic rock. While undoubtedly inspired by the likes of Thrice and Jimmy Eat World they’ve honed a distinctive, uplifting sound that’s all their own, and that’s seen countless new fans flock to their banner of late.
“We aim to write music that people can connect to, and that really means something to us,” explains frontman Jason Danzelman. “Come To Life is the first release we’ve ever been one hundred percent happy with, and it’s come from spending so much time on the road, honing our craft.”
“Over the last few years we’ve certainly paid our dues,” bassist Joe ‘Fish’ Gale adds, “and even the difficult shows have made us stronger as a band. Now we’re in a position where we can really reach people, and build up our fanbase.”
While they begin work on their debut full length, (“we’re aiming to write an album that people will still love in a decade,” smiles Jason), this comprehensive release underlines their incredibly polished sound once more. “In 2013 we’re going to do everything we can to reach new people,” Jason concludes, “and to see just how far we could take this. We’re in this for the long haul, and there’s so much more to come.”
