Release: The Vestals Announce Debut Single Via Killing Moon

Let’s start this party with a bang. It’s 2013. We’re back at work. We’re doing a shit-ton of stuff this year. No messin’. With that and other some-such Welsh phrases in mind, or at least phrases that we associate with certain Welsh people, we’re mighty please indeed to announce that we will be releasing the debut single from our buddies The Vestals on 11th February. We’ve gotten real familiar with these enigmatic dudes over the course of the last 12 months; back in the day, when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, a chap who further on became known to us as one of the guitarists in this wonderful outfit sent us an email with a link to a soundclouded track that was later to become known as Seventeen. We blogged that bitch. It got heat. Then as quickly as it arrived, the track disappeared entirely. Gutted. Months later, the very same dude sent us a different track, which this time was called Perfect Pain. It came with its very own video and everything this time. It was strong, it was drivey, and it was emotive – everything we love about a solid indie guitar track. So all in all, it only seemed right and proper that we put out these two bad boys in tandem. We’ve also some great news to announce in regards to live outings for these chappies, but we’re not allowed to do that until tomorrow. You can, however, catch our new love interests performing in all their strong-looking glory at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen this Wednesday (9th January) alongside Must and Towns, as part of the Artrocker New Blood Festival.

February 11th sees the release of The Vestals 7” single ‘Perfect Pain’ / ‘Seventeen’, through Killing Moon Records.

Two bittersweet tracks which recall the melancholic thrall of The Wedding Present or Pains of Being Pure At Heart, this debut release is a heart-wrenching and fascinating introduction to the South Wales act. The Vestals have already shared stages with breaking acts including Swim Deep and Bastille and will be touring the UK throughout 2013.

Despite exuding a confidence so rarely seen in a debut single, The Vestals let their music speak for them – or as the band say: “In a time when we know everything about everyone, we believe a little mystery is a good thing.”

What is known, is that with ‘Perfect Pain’ and ‘Seventeen’, The Vestals mark the beginning of 2013 with an aural statement of intent.
