[Track Of The Day: Paws "Jellyfish"]
Another hectic day. JESUS CHRIST. A productive one at that though; we haven’t just sat around watching a video of a guy’s pet dog called Benton running riot in Richmond Park and driving a substantially large herd of deer into oncoming traffic whilst he blashpemises and attempts to give chase – nope, not JUST that. We laid the organisational foundations for what will become Killing Moon TV, as a means of finally delivering on our promise of live sessions running out of our Club Killing Moon series with Club Fandango – for now, this means that we have to change the title of one of the tabs on the website, and if you can guess which one we’re likely to replace, then you’re a clever guy or girl. We got our resident Killing Moon DJ prepped for a slot alongside our Laissez-Faire Club chums tomorrow night at Proud Galleries, as well as getting asked to DJ at Clash Magazine’s Christmas party at The Lexington on the 9th December, at which our boys in shining armour Worship will play sandwiched between Three Trapped Tigers and Alpines. We answered way more email enquiries than any man, woman or chillun should have to in a single sitting. We also came across our new favourite Scottish band – and believe us, they’re an actual BAND-band – going by the succinct name of Paws. We don’t think we’ve been this enthralled by a guitar band since way back when we used to roll deep with Little Death. More likely than not to be lamped in the resurgent shoegaze online assault, we cannot help but feel there is more wheat than chaff to this ridiculously-cool three piece – sure, there’s elements of Yuck, No Age, Wet Paint and/or Male Bonding, but there is nevertheless an undercurrent of something far more intelligible and outright-amazing at work here. We’ll have to get down to a show to verify our gut instinct, of course – but, time being a right fucker as it has been for us recently, we’re going to be at the Record Of The Day Awards tomorrow night, which painfully is mere metres away from Old Blue Last where bastard luck would see Paws playing tomorrow night for Wet Paint main man Babak’s comic book launch that Kele Okereke writes a bit for. Which in a spoilt-brat sort of way only strengthens our resolve to like them more and eventually see them. Goddammit.
