Weekends some how seem to come and go faster and faster as you get older. I’m sure when I was 10 the weekend was seemingly an infinite amount of time for running around and climbing trees, but now days there is nothing so innocent or infinite! Thus why it has taken a couple of days to post a new TOTD. Also, with Ach away somewhere in Poland, i’ve had to reply on my own self restraint to stop for a minute and find some much needed down time to keep you all informed about some sweet new music. And I believe I have just the thing! May I introduce, the brilliantly ethereal ‘Another Day’ from London’s very own Echo Lake. There are certain types of songs that suit a Sunday, and this is one of them. Refreshing and cleansing like a gentle breeze on a sunny day. Perfectly flying the flag for British shoe-gaze pop music, Echo Lake have produced a song of real depth and quality. The dreamy, spiraling vocals of Linda Jarvis and glittering guitars underlined by a driving beat give this song a real sense of purpose and direction. Vocally I think there are similarities to Dolores O’Riordan (The Cranberries) heartfelt vocal melodies (had they used more reverb) fused with a tonality akin to that of Beach House. It’s really quite special and I just wish I had heard of them sooner! If you happen to be in Leeds and fancy holding on to the last of the weekend I suggest you get yourself over to the Brudenell Social Club where you can catch these guys playing live tonight. If that’s all perhaps a bit much, you can just sit back and listen to this great song below and help slow down the pace of the weekend.
