Winter Villains

Winter Villains
“Patterns”

Lotta things going on y’all. It feels as if we’ve not actually had longer than, oh, 15 minutes to eat, sleep or do our business in the boy’s room since the start of this week – as you may well know by now, our chums in Worship have given us plenty to get on with, so make sure you listen out for their Radio 1 action at the start of next week. As for us, despite the above and all the concurrent excitement as we gear up to [Club The Moon 002: Unplugged] next week, we’re off to sunny Brighton for one our uni chum’s stag do (an extended batchelor party to our American readership). He does not know that it also happens to be Gay Pride weekend, so that’ll be nice. In the meantime, kids, two things; firstly, Ed Hill has been left in charge, so do what he says without question. Secondly, Ed says that you gotta get down with this sweet-as-a-nut tune by Cardiff vocal ensemble Winter Villians. Patterns, having already received big ups from fellow Welshsters Beth Elfyn and Jen Long on their respective shows on Amazing Radio and BBC Radio 1 Wales, is synonymous with those easy-going uplifting build-up tracks, along the line of Tautou-style Brand New, and in the same sort of gentle-progressive vein as Tunng and Mogwai. The calm before the proverbial storm we’re about to enter into this weekend? Mos’ def.
