Said The Whale

Said The Whale
“Camilo (The Magician)”

Goddamn, being busy and hungover all in the same sitting is hard work kids. But FUN. Our boys in [Strangers] are now in full swing, and in a matter of hours will tear up The Labour Club in Northampton; we’ve got more wonderful releases on our label wing Killing Moon Records in the pipeline that we simply cannot wait to tell you about (however, we will, or management will bum us); and we’re so excited we could shit to see Ealing’s-own Belgrade play their big show for My Band’s Better Than Your Band tonight at the Old Queen’s Head in Islington. Soundtracking our most full-on week so far has been, what is likely to be, the indie anthem of the summer, namely Camilo (The Magician) from Vancouverians Said The Whale. Already a pretty big deal over in their native homeland, and starting to creep onto radio playlists this side of the pond – our good chum Charlie Ashcroft at Amazing Radio has been taking it upon himself as the main purveyor of said airwaves-invasion – and upon pressing play on the video below, expect to experience vibes along the lines of Modest Mouse, The Walkmen, and one of our favourite Canadian-exports-who-really-deserve-to-be-a-lot-bigger-than-they-are-so-look-them-up The Meligrove Band. Whilst the band did some rather extensive touring in the UK a few months back, somehow we managed to miss this entirely, and for that we are truly hanging our heads in shame. Anyways – in lieue of any London gig action, this is the perfect tune to kickstart anyone’s weekend. So, like, listen up.
