Festival: The Northern Lights Music Festival

You Northern peeps are some mighty pluckey duckers. Not being satisfied with producing some of the finest musical acts this cheeky little island has to offer, Scotland now looks set to dominate the UK festival market (and the timing seems pretty spot on, if those ticket sales for Reading and Leeds are anything to go by…) by unveiling the line up for brand new effort Northern Lights Music Festival. Set in the backdrop of North-East Scotland’s Aberdeen, the Granite City’s Seaton Park will play host to over 50 acts performing on three different stages for the two day event.

The happy-haps being that there is a rather ecclectic mixture of artists touching down for the bash – big-hitter names include headliners Maximo Park, Paloma Faith, Kelis, and everyone’s favourite ska-boogiers Madness – as well as a strong Scottish contingent repping it (it’s only fair, the event being in Scotland after all…), along the lines of KM-chums The Xcerts, Idlewild (gooooOOOOOOOOOO RODDY!), The Twilight Sad and Edwyn Collins on the initial line up announcement. The line up is not all pop-rocks and coke though – the festival has an arena over the course of the two days dedicated to dance and/or electronic music (the two genres being typically co-incidental to one another), with Mylo, Example, Audio Bullys and Sander Van Doorn rolling in to lay the proverbial smack right down.

Tickets can be got via Ticketmaster (or click HERE you lazy sods), or in person from Cafe Drummond and/or The Cavern Record Shop on Belmont Street in Abderdeen, should you happen to find yourself in that particular neck of the woods.
