Festival: Gaymers Camden Crawl 2011

You would not have guessed it judging by the murky horrible murkiness going on outside right now (we’re currently under a duvet with the heater on full blast on account of succumbing to the general murk earlier on today), but festival season has only gone and crept up behind ya and about to take advantage all Brian McFadden style. One of the first announcements for this year comes from the annual Gaymers Camden Crawl bash – returning for it’s 10th successful year and taking place on the May Bank Holiday weekend, the Crawl specialises in showcasing the very best in up and coming musical talents (which is super useful for playing catch up on all those buzz bands you’ve let slip through the cracks over the last 12 months) alongside some much more established household names.

A select committee comprised of record label heads, DJs, journos and club promoters determined the bulk of the line up for 2011 (sadly we were not included in this years’ gang – but hey, we only got our shit together junder under two months ago) and have so far announced the following live acts to take to requisitioned venues and stages in and around the Camden Town area, including The Forum, Koko, Electric Ballroom, The Barfly and The Jazz Cafe…

You’re spot on when you say that the Crawl exists for nothing if not to draw attention to fresh sounds and the acts that disappear at bigger, more commercial venues – if they even managed to squeeze themselves onto the very bottom of the bill. That’s why this year’s Crawl line-up’s so great – none of the mistakes of previous years, and a really eclectic selection of acts…
