Perpetuating the currently-developing theme this week of “New York bands what make us feel proper summery-like” (we don’t actually have a theme, but three in a row MEANS something), we came across a neat 5-membered troupe called Friends. We can assume with some degree of certainty that these dudes get along with one another rather well. Home of our most favourite tall-dude-with-a-jewfro Darwin Deez, Lucky Number, have snapped up this gang of happy chappies, and they are currently booming it up with the man himself in the live context (again, Stateside only for now). It all sounds very current, being in the same lazy-days playground as Warpaint and Twin Shadow, and we fully expect the likes of John Kennedy and 6Music to start bigging them up in no time. Have a listen to current single Friend Crush below. Coincidentally, the word Crush is one of our favourite things to say, especially when jammed in traffic on the A40 flyover near Edgeware Road. So you better watch out if you hear this coming from a car stereo in or around that area.
