Interview: Kyla La Grange
Smokey-voiced and bambi-eyed Kyla La Grange has been gearing up steadily to be one of the success stories of this year for the last 18 months, from early solo acoustic shows at the Communion club night in Notting Hill, to epic full band supports with the likes of I Blame Coco at London’s Scala venue. As we’ve mentioned before she’s also prepped and ready to rock the socks off the music industry massive at this year’s SXSW festival/conference (or at least those fortunate enough to afford to go/be sent), and so far her soul-stirring ditties have received high praise across the press board and online community. But what does Kyla think about….stuff? We wanted answers. She provided them….
Could you introduce yourself for the hi-brow readership of the Killing Moon blog?
Hello, I’m Kyla La Grange, I’m a songwriter and musician and I live in London.
Favourite release of the last 12 months, and why?
Very tricky. It’s between The National – High Violet and Matthew & The Atlas – Within The Rose
Favourite show of the last 12 months, and why?
Band of Horses at the Roundhouse. They were just achingly beautiful.[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFjlUia3KIw]
If you could moon anyone, or anything, who or what would it be?
Robert Mugabe, just to see the look on his face.
You’re about to be killed. You get to pick one song to hear before your inevitable demise. What’s it gonna be?
Something like Booka Shade that would make me feel like I was completely out of it. Also if you pick an 8-minute song you live a bit longer.
Killing In The Name Of, or Dark Side Of The Moon?
